Nova Alabaster Sconce in Brushed Brass
The Nova, sister collection to the Domo, incorporates a range of proportions in a single volume. Its design, using both artisanal craft and modernism, is a nod to 1920’s Art Deco. A pivotal movement for the material of alabaster and craftsmanship thanks to the iconic Pierre Chareau. The layered pieces of hand-carved alabaster form a dynamic sculptural relief through shadows.
Much like marble, our alabaster undergoes millions of years of formation in the hills of Northern Italy and it's the very nature of the stone that shapes its pattern. This pattern is only revealed through a traditional hand-carving process that dates back to 1895.
Distinguished Italian sculptors like Michelangelo utilized alabaster to highlight the mineral’s translucent quality that emits a warm glow when illuminated.
The Nova alabaster wall sconce can stand alone or paired together, serving as primary or secondary light sources down a long hallway or as a jewel-box Powder Room light.
