The unparalleled beauty of mining our alabaster.

Blocks are prepared for the hands of skilled master artisans who then meticulously turned each shape from the solid stone.

The found size informs each design ensuring every light is without seams.

MINING OUR
ALABASTER

Our alabaster, a result of millions of years of natural formation, is mined in Northern Italy using ancient, traditional techniques that have roots dating back to 1895.

Classical hallway with large wooden-framed windows, light walls with crown molding, and a round mirror. Sunlight creates patterns on the tiled floor.

Recovered from underground quarries, the valuable areas are assessed through core sampling and depth calculations, which then determine the inclinations of the tunnels.

The tunnels and galleries of the quarries, reaching depths of up to 280 meters, and intertwine densely for dozens of kilometers throughout the area. Their layout has been recorded for centuries on a single large map. According to recent evaluations, alabaster deposits still remain very rich throughout the region.

The abundant natural deposits in the region are globally recognized for their exceptional qualities, including compactness, transparency, exceptional hardness and intricate veins.

The extraction of the alabaster nodule is always done manually: using a pneumatic hammer or pickaxe, the piece is freed from the ground and detached from the clay bench enclosing it, then further cleaned with a small pick.

This distinct pattern is shaped by the inherent natural qualities of the internal stone itself, revealed only at the end through hand carving.

Impossible to predict,

but a record of its journey.

An empty room with beige plaster walls and brick tiles features a single round sconce on the wall and an open doorway. Natural light enters from a window on the right.
